Foie gras is the the enlarged liver of geese and ducks who have been force-fed several times a day for the purpose of enlarging their liver.  They are fed nearly 2 kilograms a day.  Stop for a moment and think about that volume: picture a 2kg bag of sugar, and now picture the side of an entire duck body.

Fortunately, all major supermarkets in the UK (except Fortnum & Mason) have refused to stock foie gras, but you can still get them in restaurants.

By ordering or purchasing foie gras, you are encouraging an cruel industry that has no regard for the life of the birds who provide this so-called ‘delicacy’.
