You have the power to take action right now:

even if your action is as simple as choosing to not eat meat,

or choosing not to use consumer items that were tested on animals,

or choosing not to wear clothing made from animal products.

1. Get informed, and open your eyes to the truth.

2. Write a letter to your local newspaper or local government.

The best time to submit a letter for publication is in response to an article or news item that has appeared in the paper to which you are writing. This could be, for example, about a local wildlife cull or a restaurant selling ‘exotic meat’. If the article promotes or appears to support the cruel practice, write in with the other side of the argument. Point out the problems and cruelty associated with whatever is taking place and speak up for animals.

If the article is positive, send in a letter of support or encouragement. You can also write to publicise a particular occasion or event, such as Animal Aid’s Horse Racing Awareness Week or Veggie Month, or how to have a compassionate Christmas.

(Above extracted from the Animal Aid’s guide to campaigning.)

3. Sign a petition.

The more people who act on what they know is wrong, the sooner we can change the fate of our animals.
